We've Got Your Back (Pocket) at Consignpro!

Your decision and the decisions of others to purchase Consignpro software just goes to show that anyone with a computer and Internet connection can easily con people.

When Wilson told you on his home page that he was a 'CEO' of a corporation 'with offices in New York and Miami' and that his membership in NARTS assured 'professionalism', you may have believed him. Who would lie about such things?

When he lied about competitors and bashed them in public, when he made false claims and exaggerations beyond belief; when he patronized you ad nauseum, you had no way of knowing you were being worked. So he has your money and you're left holding the software Now you want to sell it.

Surprise!

You can only sell the software with your business. Even at that there are a number of catches: The new owner must use the same business name. There's more. The business must remain in the same location. Not done. The same address must be used and finally, the same phone number must be retained.

This is obviously a glaring departure from common software policy and it has proven to be costly surprise for many who have been victimized by it.

Case in point: A lady forked over $995 in August, 2007 for this software. Wilson managed to close the sale without making sure they knew of this hook. On November 11th she posted in the TGTBT forum that they were closing shop due to illness. She didn't ask for a refund but only asked if someone would purchase the software.

Wilson rarely if ever misses an opportunity in this forum to chime in when a sale is in the wind, but he totally ignored her and left it to someone else inform her that she had been had. That post seems to have since disappeared since getting some publicity but here's an image of it.

Just 2 months later on 1/11/2008 in the same forum, Wilson publicly admited knowing that his policy is unknown to most, and unpopular:

Unhappy because every program (including Microsoft Windows) was included except yours!
No doubt Wilson communicated with you more than once prior to purchase, perhaps by email, by phone, via his website, in forums. He had many opportunities to openly disclose these important provisions and purposely avoided doing so. To prove the point, look now through all of his representations and see if you can find where this vital information has been hidden.

We are far from done. In that rare instance where all conditions are met to sell the software, Wilson has more pit falls in place:

Quote from his web page about software license transfer: "If the license is not successfully transferred within 30 days of you visiting this page [not the date of the business ownership transfer], the license you are using expires on our system. That means you can't receive any type of support for ConsignPro. If you have a problem or need to re-install ConsignPro in the future, you would have to purchase a new license of ConsignPro at whatever our price is at that time. Our current price is $995 for a one computer setup."

What if you 'visit his page' in January and transfer your business in June?

That aside, you and the buyer will obviously be embroiled in a great number of details and tasks while the 30-day clock is ticking at Consignpro. What do you think? Will you or the new owner get a call from Wilson on the 29th day to make sure the new owner doesn't step into this one? If that were the plan, why not just remove the snare and allow the new owner to 'register' whent the dust settles, or better yet, why not just automatically register the new owner as a common courtesy and service? Nah. No money in fairness and honesty.

Encore! IF you and the buyer manage to navigate the mine field without incident to this point, you still lose. The buyer must pony up a $50 consolation prize (called a 'transfer fee') and the new owner "is also immediately responsible for the first year of technical support" - another $125-$250.. For toppers it appears you forfeit the support fees you might have pre-paid so Wilson gets double fees for the months that overlap.

Is that it? Nope. Now the new store owner is left holding the bag. He/she can NOT sell the software with the business, period.

Angered? You should be!

Had you known the facts, you may have refused to purchase the software. Open and edit the following letter and send it to your credit-card company. From Wikipedia about confidence tricks: "Persons of any level of intelligence are vulnerable to deception by experienced con artists. Confidence tricks exploit human weaknesses like greed, dishonesty, vanity, but also virtues like honesty, compassion, or a naïve expectation of good faith on the part of the con artist."

From the Con Man's Website: The only place on the website where it is disclosed that Consignpro is a software-license transfer is ticking time bomb for the new owner is on the 'transfer page'. There is one link on the entire site to it from the 2nd-level order page.
