POS Buyers Software

Record Buyers Information

Record personal information about shoppers. Build a client list for keeping in touch with sales announcements, wish-list matches and special events.

Using the Diamond or Virtual editions of Best Consignment Shop Software, at POS personal information about buyers can be entered on the sales-invoice screen and stored in the database for future use and reference.

There are fields on the invoice screen for name, address, reseller tax ID, credit limit, email address, two phone numbers and rewards points.

Entering some or all of that information on the invoice page automatically saves the information to the buyer's record when the save is saved (finalized).

Export Buyer Information

Buyer records can be exported in .csv (comma-separated value) format for spreadsheets and text files which in turn can be used to import client data into free programs like MailChimp for sending broadcast emails to 'groups' of clients.

Broadcast email campaigns include an 'unsubscribe option' to help keep the mailing list clean and to avoid 'spamming' your customers.

Exported data might also be easier to edit and place back into the program when viewed in a spreadsheet. For example, if a change is to be made 'globally' or to several client accounts, export the data from Best Consignment Shop Software, make the changes in the .csv file and import the changes into the program. Only records with changes will be updated.

Client Management

There is a special section in Best Consignment Shop Software for 'Buyers' where a list of buyers is displayed in the main table and options for working with buyer records appear in the menus at the lower-left and at the right.

The label '$ Volume' presents a report showing customers ranked by purchase volume. The '# Purchases' reports the number of purchases made by each patron. These reports can be used to evaluate the client base and identify those who purchase the most and most frequently.

A client may be selected in the table and a sales invoice can be opened in the buyer's name by pressing 'New Sale' on the right. A wish can be added to the Wish List.

To process a return, chose the client in the table and select Credit Memo in the lower-left menu.

New York Clothing Taxes

Clothing and Footwear: New York provides a sales tax exemption for clothing and footwear purchases under $110 per item. This exemption is particularly beneficial for consumers, especially during back-to-school shopping periods.

A shop owner can contact the following resources to verify local tax rates:

  • State Department of Revenue: Each state has a Department of Revenue or equivalent agency that provides information about state and local sales tax rates.
  • Local Government Offices: The city or county tax office can provide information on local tax rates, including any additional sales tax that may be applicable.
  • Tax Consultants or CPAs: Professional tax consultants or certified public accountants can offer expert advice on local tax rates and compliance.
  • Online Resources: Websites like the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) or state-specific tax websites often provide up-to-date information on tax rates.
  • Local Business Associations: Local chambers of commerce or business associations may also have resources or contacts to help verify tax rates.

Best Consignment Shop Software and Sales Tax

A second sales tax field was added to BCSS early on for use in Canada but since has become useful in other areas of the world for separating national and regional sales tax, as taxing authorities continue to seize every opportunity to take money from working people to fund their overblown budgets.

The second tax rate is set in Program Setup > Sales. When making the setting remember to use Save/Exit to save the entry.

On Sales Recap reports both sales amounts are shown separately, making it convenient for shop owners to know the amount to send to each taxing agency.
